We understand that sometimes despite best efforts it is necessary to surrender your farm animal. Based on urgency and foster home space availability, Oregon Farm Sanctuary does take in farm animals surrendered by their owners. Please understand that because we have very limited resources, it's necessary for us to prioritize the animals we take into rescue. Animals in danger of being euthanized are given first and top priority. Next are animals in need of immediate health care that their owners cannot provide. Then, owner surrenders are considered. Please be patient with us and we will do our best to work with you to ensure the safety and well-being of your animal.
At Oregon Farm Sanctuary, our mission is to provide assistance to animals in need of rescue who are sick or injured. Please include all the animals information (age, breed, etc), a picture if possible, medical concerns/conditions, temperament, and time frame needed for surrender.
Our Team will review your application to determine if farm animal meets criteria and we have an opening at the sanctuary along with funding for animal. We also have many community contacts who are looking to adopt and/or foster which is an option if the sanitary doesn't have a current opening for life long care.
We will contact you to let you know our decision and if unable to take directly into the sanctuary help you with a safe placement.
Oregon Farm Sanctuary knows that surrendering your animal is a very difficult decision, but sometimes - it is the only one to make. If you choose to surrender your animal, you'll be asked to complete a surrender contract once approved for sanctuary. Your signature on this contract represents a permanent decision on your part. This legally binding contract gives full ownership of the animal to Oregon Farm Sanctuary. This allows us to provide veterinary care and down the road the possibility, legally adopt out the animal to a carefully pre-screened 'forever' home if determined best for the animal or have the animal remain at the sanctuary for life. Please note: We consider adoptions through our organization to be closed, meaning that we do not reveal the identities of either the surrendering or adopting parties. This ensures your privacy, as well as the privacy of the adopter, will be protected.
