Born and raised in Oregon, Emily’s connection to animals began early on growing up on a family farm. From a young age, she was known as the child who couldn’t walk past an animal in need—whether it was bringing home stray cats and dogs, nursing injured wildlife back to health, or bottle-feeding abandoned farm babies. Her compassion extended even to the smallest creatures; once, she rescued a box of mice from a pet store, determined to spare their lives and give them a chance at freedom.

Emily’s empathy and kindness set her apart in her community, especially during her time in 4-H. While many of her peers participated in livestock auctions as a rite of passage, Emily was the only one who refused to sell the animals she had raised. To her, these were not just livestock but friends—beings she had cared for, nurtured, and built trust with. The idea of parting with them felt unthinkable, planting early seeds of a lifelong dedication to animal welfare.

As the years passed, Emily’s compassion deepened and her sense of purpose grew clearer. Over the past decade, she has balanced a demanding career as a nurse with her unwavering commitment to rescuing animals in need—especially those requiring medical care and a safe, loving home. Her nursing background has given her unique insight into the healing process, which she applies not only to her human patients but also to the vulnerable animals she rescues.

Driven by a profound desire to make a meaningful difference, Emily founded Oregon Farm Sanctuary. What began as a personal mission evolved into a place of healing, connection, and hope for both animals and people. Through her sanctuary, Emily aims to create a community where rescued animals can thrive, and where visitors can experience firsthand the deep intelligence, emotion, and spirit of farm animals—challenging the way we think about these often-overlooked beings.

Today, Oregon Farm Sanctuary stands as a testament to Emily’s vision and dedication, offering a safe haven for animals and inspiring countless others to see beyond food or utility, and recognize the inherent worth of every life.

A lifelong advocate for animal welfare, Veronica is proud to serve as Treasurer of the Board at Oregon Farm Sanctuary. With a dedicated career spanning nine years in Emergency Medicine, she has provided compassionate and skilled care to her community as a nurse. Veronica’s commitment to helping others extends beyond her professional work, as she generously volunteers her time and expertise to support the sanctuary’s mission of rescuing and rehabilitating farm animals.

When she’s not actively involved with Oregon Farm Sanctuary, Veronica cherishes spending quality time with her loyal dog, Oliver. An avid traveler, she also enjoys exploring new cultures and destinations around the world, broadening her perspective and inspiring her ongoing passion for service and advocacy.

Travis Cooper is a creative trailblazer with over 25 years of experience in commercial, broadcast, documentary, hospitality, and travel content creation. Throughout his career, Travis has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to storytelling, design, and artistic excellence, crafting visual narratives that deeply resonate with audiences around the world. His work reflects a passion for creativity paired with a dedication to quality and impact.

Beyond his professional achievements, Travis is known for his compassionate heart—he never hesitates to lend a helping hand to animals in need.
